Bio of David Silva

Married nearly 26 years to Kris Poulter, my high school sweetheart.  I was one of her of flirt-to-convert victims as a teenager!  We’ve been in So Cal for 21 years.  We have four children: Amy - returned to Heaven shortly after birth, would be 25 in Aug, Michelle (23) - BYU grad, married to Derek Cahoon (a recent CRSJ mission alumnus!), Becca (20) - junior @ BYU, David (17) - junior in HS.  Taking the family to Costa Rica in Aug.  Haven't been back since the mission.  Love the Lord, love my wife, love my kids and love the church.  The church is true.

I’m currently the 2nd Counselor in Newport Beach, CA Stake Presidency. Been in four bishoprics and served as bishop of South Coast Ward, Newport Beach, CA Stake.  I am the VP Sales for Aluminum Precision Products, a manufacturer of aluminum & titanium forged products for airplanes, cars, SCUBA tanks, etc.  I do a bit of traveling for work (million miler on AA).  Picked up Portuguese last few years due to business in Brazil – just returned with my son from a great spring break there.  Have kept the Spanish up.  Love to travel with my wife, family, or one of the kids.  Take one fishing trip a year with my son...Alaska, Florida keys, Brazil, Wyoming, Utah, California, etc.  Our next trip will be Costa Rica later this year.  He wants to go to Australia after that...a tall order!

Glad to hear there will be a reunion for the old timers.  If calendar permits I would love to attend.  Companions: Keith A. Rasmussen.  Alexis Machuca Dominguez (native Honduran) served in our mission from 1976 to 78.  He was baptized 1/75 in Tegucigalpa.  I have been trying to locate him without success.  Any ideas how to contact him?  I’ve kept in touch over the years with my best friend John Dekker, my 3rd comp in the mission.  Been to each other’s kid’s baptisms, ordinations, etc.  That's saying a lot since he has eight kids!  I served from 11/74 to11/76: Nicaragua 12/75 - 3/76 the rest in CR/HON/PAN.  Areas Served: Tegucigalpa & Comayaguela, Honduras; San Jose and Heredia, Costa Rica; Masaya and Granada, Nicaragua; Canal Zone, Panama.

My favorite mission memory is the Alexis Machuca Dominguez' conversion story.  It is unparalleled.  As he also is a mission alumnus, he can tell the story in his own bio when he submits one.  I will never forget Digna Esmeralda Rosa de Castro, the most faithful and inspiring convert of my mission, who joined the church against all odds and in the most difficult of circumstances.  Keith Rasmussen would know what I'm talking about.  Most recent favorite scripture: Gal 2:20.
