David Laron Anderson

I returned from my mission in May of 1977 and received a degree in Economics from BYU in 1979.  I started a career in investment banking on Wall Street, working for The First Boston Corporation in New York (one of the five “bulge bracket” securities firms).  After two years, I went back to school and got an MBA from Harvard University.  I returned to Wall Street, New York and First Boston, where I have worked ever since.  The firm has changed substantially through growth, acquisitions and mergers.  It is now called Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) and is the 4th largest securities firm in the world.  We are now owned by Credit Suisse Group in Switzerland.

I am a Managing Director of the firm and am currently Chairman of the Asia Pacific Investment Banking Committee and Head of Mergers & Acquisitions for Asia Pacific.  I live in Hong Kong with my wife, Liz, and our daughter, Paige.  I’ve lived in New York (4 different times for a total of 14 years), Boston, London, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and now Hong Kong.  From 1992 to 1998 I built and ran CSFB’s Latin American business, opening offices for securities trading and investment banking in Mexico City, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires, culminating in the acquisition of Brazil’s largest investment bank, Banco Garantia.  For the majority of my career, I have spent my time advising clients on international mergers and acquisitions.

I’ve remained active in the Church and currently am Advisor to the Priests’ Quorum in our branch and a counselor in the District Young Men’s Presidency.
