Land of Panama to Missionary Work in 1976.
The mission was the foundation of the life I have built since. Without
it, nothing would have been the same.
Although it was the hardest two years, it was the period for me that set
me on a course of continued growth and development and for which I will always
be thankful. I especially am thankful
to President and Sister Eager for their great love and support that I felt from
them.
One of the spiritual highlights of my mission was standing
in the prayer circle with President J. Thomas Fyans and his wife, President
Benjamin Parra and his wife, President Eager and Sister Eager, Elder David
Silva and myself, Elder David Holmes while President Fyans dedicated the land
of Panama to missionary work in the summer of 1976 on the Panamanian Airport Mezzanine
early one morning after a district conference.
The full import of that experience didn't hit me until the summer of
1978 when I heard the announcement of the revelation on the Priesthood and I
understood what that meant for the work of the Lord going forward in Panama.
