Bio of David McLean

Family: Spouse: Lana Haymore. Children: 7 children: Jason (20), Kimberly (18), Erica (16), Kelly (14), James (12), Lacey (8) & Joseph (1). I met my wonderful wife at BYU.  We are celebrating our 22nd anniversary this October.  Our oldest son Jason, is on a mission in Dallas, TX (Spanish speaking).  Kimberly (18) is attending BYU; all the others are in High School, Middle School, Elementary School and the baby is keeping mom busy during the day.

Church: Church service not necessarily in chronological order: Seminary Teacher, S.School Teacher, YM Advisor, YM President, Elders Quorum President, Branch President, Ward Clerk, Cubmaster, Stake Missionary, currently in Bishopric.

Education: Graduated from BYU in 1982 and lo and behold who should be graduating with me...Gary Lamph who was my companion in the SLC mission home (3 days) and again in the San Jose Mission Office (3 months). Majored in Business Management-finance; with minor in Accounting and Economics.

Work: My work takes me to Alaska during the summer months where I asst. manage a seafood production facility (cannery & cold storage).  My family makes the annual pilgrimage with me.  There we live in a company house and eat company food; the kids enjoy the Alaskan wilderness, lakes & water in general...until they get old enough to work, then its "pay for your education" time, baby.  (My son on his mission taught me how to talk like that.)  After the summer season, I return to our corporate headquarters in Seattle where we figure out what happened and start planning the next season.

Hobbies: My hobbies include a lot of sports and I still play basketball Wednesday night after mutual with the Institute and Young Adults who keep me running.  Unfortunately, our Stake Center has one of those big, full courts.  Also, racquetball (sometimes with my wife), ping-pong, and a lot of family kickball in the backyard.

Comps: My missionary companions were the greatest and include (in order): Goddard, R.Price, C.Smith, Echeverria (accent on the i), Durnford, Midgett, Blackham, Lamph, Barrientos, Keller, Bergin, Echeverria again, & C.Peterson.

Areas Served: I served in the following areas (chronologically):  Alajuela, Comayaguela, Choluteca, Masaya, San Jose (Mission Office-Recorder), & finally in San Pedro Sula.  That's 3 of the 4 countries our mission was comprised of at that time.

Like most of us, the mission was truly a rich and rewarding experience.  I loved serving with President Eagar and all my companions were great.  We had some great experiences that prepared us for life and further work in the Lord's kingdom.  Now, I'm richly blessed with a wonderful family and the church is foremost in all our lives.
