Bio of Fred Gill
Family:
Married Nancy (Allen) – three children: Adam 17, Matt 15 and Jared 13. Adam is our Gymnast, ranked 17th nationally
before he quit last year. He's an irresistible force when it comes to getting
his way. Matt is HS class president, 4.0 GPA, soccer and basketball player.
He's an immovable object when it comes to getting his way. Jared our cellist
and historian, playing soccer and basketball also. He's the peacemaker when the
irresistible force meets the immovable object. Nancy and I just do what we can
to keep up with our boys.
Church: I've done most all Ward callings from Den
Leader to Bishopric. I'm currently YM president.
Education: BYU, BS. Medical College of Wisconsin, MD.
Oregon Health Sciences University, Pediatric Residency. University of Kansas,
Allergy/Immunology Fellowship
Work: Private Allergy practice in Portland, Oregon
1988-1995. Joined staff at Kaiser Permanente in Portland 1995-present. Chief of
Allergy Department 2000-2003
Hobbies: Travel, movies, and crossword puzzles (easy
ones)
Community Service: Keeping our dogs from barking is
my contribution to the community. Nancy, on the other hand, is
volunteer-aholic. She teaches FAME (Fine Arts and Music Experience) as a
volunteer at the elementary school.
Comps: I had only the best. Lots of good memories. I
hope to see them and others from my LTM group at the reunion.
Areas Served: San Pedro Sula, Honduras, Puntarenas,
Costa Rica, Managua, Nicaragua, Choluteca, Honduras, Comayaguela, Honduras, Managua,
Nicaragua.
Memories: Losing 60# the first 6 months with
"Gamboo" and a lot of walking. Biting into a raw platano my first day
think it was a very big banana (yuk). Taking pictures from the top of moving
trains and buses. Setting up baseball between missionary and local baseball
teams. Singing live on TV for Christmas. OSO fudge bars. Looking into a crater
of hot lava. Baptizing in the Pacific Ocean, one of the best things I have ever
been a part of.
