Bio of Greg Garrett
Family:
Married Marianne. Five children: Paul
(22), Mike (20), Leah (17), Steve (15) and Annie (12). Paul returned last October from the Mesa
Arizona mission. He recently married a
lovely missionary from his mission. Mike is currently serving in the Little
Rock Arkansas mission. Leah is a senior at Tuacahn High School for the
Performing Arts (St. George). Steve is a freshman at Provo High School. Annie
is in 7th grade.
Church: Except for the 2 years as a missionary, I
have been the ward and or stake organist in each ward I have lived in since I
was 12. (That's a span of over 30
years!) I reluctantly had to give it up
to serve in the bishopric of a freshman ward on BYU campus where I am currently
serving. In addition to being organist, I have been Ward Mission Leader, High Priest's
Group Leader, and teacher several times.
Education: Graduated from BYU in Marketing. Work: After graduation, I moved to
Seattle and worked with Safeway. I fazed
them out when I bought my own convenience store and gas. It was there that Annie was born with
several disabilities. I let the C-store
go and moved back to Provo to get family support. I am currently with Nu Skin.
Hobbies: I love the outdoors, canoeing, camping, and fishing.
Comps: It started with Kelly Guyman in the MTC, then
Mark Pugmire. It ended with Jim
Ryder. There were a total of 14, many
of which I remember. But so I don't risk offending someone who I might forget,
I'll leave it there. Areas Served:
Managua, San Jose, Tegucigalpa (twice), San Pedro Sula, and El Progresso.
Memories: I was able to baptize a family in
Tegucigapla the first time I was there.
When I went back to the city the second time, I visited them first chance
I had. It was a wonderful reunion to
see them again. I will always remember
the experience as a Zone Leader in Tegucigalpa and having to receive 1/3 of the
missionaries from Nicaragua when they pulled the missionaries out.
