Bio of Lee Hinkle
Family:
Married to Allison Kay Fuller. Children: Lee J -- age 16 -- 25 June 1987, Kurt
-- age 12 -- 10 Sept 1990. We were
married in November 1976, moved nineteen times the first ten years (only three
of those were military related) and moved the twentieth time for our twentieth
anniversary. No more moving. We have two miracle sons whom we love very much.
Lee J is a very busy teenager. This past year he has played
JV water polo, varsity volleyball, earned his Eagle Scout rank, become a
licensed driver, got his braces off, hiked with varsity scouts to the top of
Half Dome, attended EFY and BYU volleyball camps, worked at Taco Bell, and
maintained a 4.33 GPA while attending the Monterey Academy of Oceanographic
Sciences at Monterey High School. He is a quarter inch shorter than his father which
irks him to no end--he hopes to rectify that soon.
Kurt lives and breathes lacrosse, he loves building and
carving with wood and using his father's construction tools to create the many
projects he dreams up. He likes to set fire to everything we will allow him to
burn, he mountain bikes in the surrounding hills with friends, is nearing the
end of orthodontic treatment, can now rap in Spanish with the other male members
of our household, has three lawn mowing jobs, and also joined the varsity
scouts on the Half Dome trip as an eleven year old. This year they are
summiting the highest pass in the Sierras, 12,000+ ft. --last week of July
2003. Kurt is showing every sign of being as tall as his father.
Church Service: Young Men Presidencies, Teacher's
Quorum advisor twice, Sunday school president, Membership clerk twice, EQ
Counselor, and EQ president. Two and half years ago our ward was reorganized to
include ninety-five young transient military couples. As EQ president, Lee knew
them each by name, knew their wives names, what language they were learning at
the Defense Language Institute and much about their lives. The opportunity to make
lots of new friends and have good role models for our sons has been wonderful.
Education: BS in Construction Technology from BYU
1979. Work: Worked with national
and international construction firms the first three years after graduation.
Served in the US Army for 3-1/2 years as engineer officer, as a general
contractor established own business in 1986--remodeling kitchen and bathrooms,
with a tile installation specialty. Most of the work is in Carmel, Pebble
Beach, Pacific Grove and Monterey areas which are land locked to new
construction so remodeling is the only way to upgrade.
Hobbies: Rock climbing, High Adventure Sierra hiking
(Lee always goes with the varsity scouts—the top of Mt. Whitney was achieved
two years ago), snow skiing, white water rafting and parachuting. Sometimes Lee
relaxes with a good book. Community
Service: Church service, coaching soccer and little league, support to coach
and videographer for volleyball team.
Comps: Lee Cammack, Nils Lindstrom, Steve Price, Paul
Wright, Joe Bradbury, Mark Keller, Steve Calloway, Daniel Pernett, Gary
