Bio for
Prince, Lynette (Wood)
After the
mission I returned to BYU and got a BA in English in 1979. Then I went home to San José, California, and
worked at various jobs (my favorite was playing bass guitar in a band) until I
had enough money to fulfill a dream of going to England, something I had wanted
to do ever since I saw "Mary Poppins" when I
was a child. After that, I entered the
Linguistics program at SJSU and received my MA in 1984. (My decision to study Linguistics resulted
directly from an important experience I had as a missionary in Nicaragua,
which I can't remember anymore.) Studying
Linguistics made me a better person but I couldn't find a job in that field, so
I started collecting books. In the
meantime I also got married and produced some children. Currently I have an on-line bookstore, a job
I love.
My
husband Gary recently retired after 30+ years of teaching school. We moved to Fallbrook (in southern California) in
1986. We have four children: three girls and a boy. At this writing, the two older girls are
married, and Gary and I have two beautiful grandchildren. Our second daughter will be graduating from
BYU in April 2009; our youngest daughter is a college sophomore, studying
Classics; and our son is a senior in high school. We also have three very fat cats. I keep busy with my family, Church callings
(presently, I teach Gospel Doctrine), and other interests (books, music,
movies, and travel). Through various
church callings and employment over the years, I've had opportunities to keep
up with my Spanish, although my vocabulary has been slowly shrinking. I hope someday to be able to travel with my
family and show them the places where I served as a missionary.
