Bio of Mike Burton

Spouse: Diane.  Children: Jake 23, Andy 20, Chrissy 17, Holly 17, Sam 11.  I have been blessed to have a very close family.  My oldest son just returned from a mission in London.  My two oldest sons are both Eagle Scouts.  My twin daughters are both Varsity Cheerleaders at Viewmont High School.  All 5 of my children have been a blessing in our lives.  I have remained active, serving in various Young Men’s positions including Scoutmaster. Also have served in Elders Quorum Presidency, and as High Priest Group Leader.  Currently I serve as Troop Committee Chairman.

I am a University of Utah Alumni, although I did also attend BYU for a short period of time.  I have enjoyed a career in food sales and marketing.  I have worked for C&H Sugar, and Blue Diamond Almond Growers.  For the last 18 years I have worked for Malt-O-Meal Cereal Company.  Currently, I am the Western US Regional Sales Manager.  I enjoy jogging, traveling, fishing, Jeeps, sports cars and the usual mid-forties guy type stuff.  Although I'm not an athlete, I have enjoyed jogging in countless 10Ks.  I have restored 5 mid 60's Porsches.  Currently I'm working restoring on a vintage 1944 Dodge Power Wagon.  Have worked with Farmington City on the annual City Summer event, Festival Days - one year coordinating the Breakfast and one year coordinating the 5/10K race.

Have great memories of my companions: Vernon Blalock-Comayaguela, Kent Wilson-Comayaguela, Rolando Escobar-Comayaguela, Dave Anderson-Choluteca, Dave Stewart-Choluteca, Steve Ostler-Managua, Mario Jimenez-Managua, Dave Riley-San Pedro Sula.  I enjoyed all the companions I had.  I served from 3/75 to 3/77.  Areas server (in order): San Jose, Comayaguela, Choluteca, Managua, San Pedro Sula and San Jose.

I'll never forget walking into, sitting down and chatting in a brothel with Dave Riley.  Both of us were so naive, and didn't know what we had walked into.  We just thought the young women were extra friendly.  At the beginning of my mission, Kent Wilson and I were able to tract out, and baptize a wonderful young family in Comayaguela.  Over a year later, as I was in Comayaguela visiting, (close to the end of my mission), I was able to attend church in the same area I had served in, about a year and a half before. My heart was filled with joy to see the man Kent Wilson and I had baptized, when I served in the area previously, was now serving as the Branch President, of a huge Comayaguela Branch.
