Bio of Ray Layton
After
Costa Rica I headed back to BYU and by 1982 had a BS in Zoology, a wife, and a
son. Packing our 1979 Ford Fairmot
Futura and a 5x8 U-haul that wouldn't even hold what is currently in my closet,
we drove to Blacksburg VA, went to a few more years of school at Virginia Tech
- and I ended up with a PhD in Entomology, two more kids, several years of
experience as a scoutmaster, and a job offer in Delaware working for
DuPont. I spent thirteen years as a
research scientist in the area of pesticide risk assessment, we had another
kid, bought a house, worked another few years as scoutmaster/YM
president/bishopric member, used my Spanish and taught several technical
courses in Mexico and home taught a wonderful Mexican family, and sent our
oldest off to BYU then to a mission in Sicily.... In early 2002 we felt
prompted to move and were guided to where we now live - Ankeny, Iowa - where I
work for Pioneer Hi-Bred International doing risk assessment for GMO's, will
soon have three kids at BYU, a 12 year old at home, drive my Jeep Wrangler to
scout camps - and we are loving every minute of it.
