Bio of Scott Peterson

Family: Marsha and I have three children, one son-in law and a 70 lb Labrador.  My oldest, Genny got married 3 years ago to a man she converted to the gospel.  They both graduated from Grand Canyon University here in Phoenix and are music education teachers at local schools.  Richard, my oldest son recently returned from a mission to Montreal, Canada (Spanish speaking) and is going about college studies and work...currently no quick marriage prospects like his Dad had.

My youngest son, Dusty is a senior at Greenway High School, is on both the Varsity Golf team and Baseball team.  He has aspirations to attend BYU and play ball there.

Church: I have served in the church as YM President, High Priest Group Leader, in two bishoprics, stake missionary, scoutmaster YM leader and various other positions.  My never-ending calling is supporting my wife in her presidency callings in Relief Society, Young Women, Primary and Stake callings.  But overall, I just like being a Father and sharing in my children’s adventures.

Education: After my mission I went back to school and finished up with an Associates degree and have always wanted to do more but life gets in the way.  Just over three months after I got home I married the girl who waited so patiently for me.  Marsha has been one of the few very right things I've done in my life.

Work: I transferred to Phoenix, AZ from Utah in 1988 with a company called Dickies and soon after became a regional sales manager over the 14 western United States.  The constant travel was making my ability to be at home seeing my family activities very frustrating.  I quit Dickies in 1992 and shortly thereafter opened my own Army/Navy Surplus store in Phoenix.  My time constraints essentially disappeared and family life has never been better.

Dichos: Some of my favorite dichos were Pay-Day (baptism day), toking (too much of this one), Tuanis (Tica PMA), geeper (we all met 'em), goodbye my lung (8-15 year old geepers).  There are definitely more...just can't remember them now.

I served in the Costa Rica San Jose Mission from August 19, 1976 to September 8, 1978 under both President John Eagar and President Joseph Muren.   My dates, areas and companions are as follows:

I wanted to detail out the men I served with because it was those men who buoyed me up and helped me develop a deep rooted testimony of the Gospel. The Presidents were awe-inspiring men.  Being closer to President Muren I gained a great appreciation for his Gospel knowledge and the example he set as a father to his family. All these men taught me to work, to respect other’s judgments, to listen to the Lord and they taught me how to feel the spirit.  I feel truly blessed for the best two years of my life and the opportunity I had to serve the Latin people in Central America.  We have been so fortunate to love the Lord and receive his blessings.  Thank you to all who helped me enjoy our Father's rich blessings.
