Bio of Shauna Peck Hooper
We
have 5 children; I have twin daughters (25) that are both married. A daughter
(23). My son (20) is serving a mission
in the Long Beach, CA. Spanish mission.
He will return in 8 months. My caboose is my 16-year-old son. I also
have 2 grandsons and a granddaughter.
Dave and I have been married 26 years this June. Our first 10 years were spent in the United States Air Force. My husband is a pilot. He visited the old Central American stomping grounds on many occasions during that time. We currently live in Alpine, Utah. We have lived here 6 years. My husband flies for Northwest Airlines and is Colonel in the Air National Guard. He has been activated on several occasions since that time starting with Desert Storm. As our country goes off to war this time, he will not have to go.
I have served in various callings. You name it and I have done it. I have even been a Bishop's wife. I am now serving a part-time mission for the church. I work with special needs children in the Church Education System. It has been a rewarding call. My mission will be up this June.
For 10 years I worked part-time as an Interior Decorator in Salt Lake and decided I'd had enough two years ago. My hobbies consist of decorating my home and others. I spend my time now with my mission call, and more than anything spending time with my grandchildren. I attended Utah State prior to my mission and attended another year after that.
My community involvement at this time is being a volunteer for the Air National Guard. I am a family support volunteer helping with crisis while spouses are away at war. So you could say at this time I am back in business.
I started my mission with Sister Susan Bliss and ended with Sister Brandvold. In between I had many other wonderful companions. Some I have kept in contact with i.e., Sister Sandoval, Sister Ellis, Sister Bliss and Sister Lathrom. I will always consider my companions to be some of the best friends that I have met throughout my life.
I started my mission in San Pedro Sula. From there I went to Costa Rica, and then to David, Panama. I spent few months there, and then got on a bus for Panama City. I finished my mission in Tegus.
I think one of the most unique and uplifting things about my
mission were all of the wonderful Sisters and Elders that I met while serving
there. I have always looked back on my mission with fond memories. I look
forward to meeting once again.
