The kids are putting themselves through college and have done very well so far.  They have made many wise choices for school, and church activity and have had the opportunity to serve in many different ways.  We have enjoyed many family vacations together.  Each one of us has tried to develop our talents in various ways.  The kids have done well in school earning awards and scholarships.  Both boys are Eagle scouts.  Being with each other is enjoyable.

I have been able to serve as a counselor in the Bishopric, as HP group leader, activities committee (sports), YM president and other areas of the YM organization.  I have worked in scouting for 10 years at various levels. The calling I have enjoyed most to date was working in the nursery with my wife.

I have an associate degree from Ricks (BYU-I) and graduated with a BS degree in Electronics Technology from BYU.  Several courses relating to process improvement and project management.  I worked as an electronic technician until I received my degree. I then worked at National Semiconductor as a manufacturing engineer designing upgrades to electronic process equipment and working with automation.  I have worked as a test engineer (designing test programs and associated hardware) to repair aircraft and missile electronics subassemblies at Hill Air Force Base for 10-15 years.  I am currently the Technical Project Manager for the missile ground support facility group in charge of software maintenance for the system.

Hobbies: Hiking, biking, spending time with family, being with my wife, basketball and various other sports, gardening, outdoors type activities, vacations, reading, serving others.  Community Service: Eagle projects, clean up activities, youth T-ball coach, assistant BB coach, food drives, neighborhood service projects.

I had 20 companions so I won't name them (cause I can't remember the names except Elder). I worked in 3 trios for about a month each time. I went one week without a companion when I was in the hospital.  Areas Served: San Pedro Sula, southeast area, we did a lot of walking.  Tegucigalpa, Mira Flores area, Comayaguela, south and east area. I was the PR in Managua, and got to visit most of the areas when open houses were scheduled.  We had to bring the film (no VCRs in those days). I served in Desamparados, a suburb of San Jose. I was DL in David, Panama, and La Chorrera. This was my last area.

I was somewhat famous for a short time because of the accident when I was hit in the face by a passing truck and spent a week in the hospital. (Elder) Lee Hinkle was my ZL and he really enjoyed taking pictures of the mess (my face) before the surgery to fix it. I have not had surgery on it since coming home.  I saved one of my companion’s legs from a dog bite with my quick draw umbrella which I carried in my belt loop.  Very few companions could keep up with me walking.  The best one to do that was Elder Steve Berner. He couldn't play basketball very well, but he was a great companion and wonderful missionary.  Elder Juretich (sp) could get us all laughing with his sound effects.

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of the mission.  It has been a foundation for the rest of my life in the gospel. Learning Spanish has also been helpful for my kids in school. I really gained a profound gratitude for our country and all the blessings we enjoy here.  Most of all, my testimony of the Savior and the Prophet Joseph Smith were strengthened as I had opportunity to testify of them and the truthfulness of the gospel. I am still interested in the areas I served in and the people.  There will always be a place in my heart for that area and that special time of my life.
