Bio on Elder Vern Hixson
After the
mission in July 1977 I attended Long Beach (CA.) City College for a year and
continued a friendship with a wild Elder named Bill Luckow. After a failed attempt at romance we both
embarked to the happy hunting grounds of BYU.
I met my wife on the way there and Bill met his there. I married in April 1980 in the Oakland
temple and lived in SLC for a year working for Sears.
In 1981 we moved to Sacramento, CA. ,where my wife is
from and had various jobs, then to Los Banos, CA. in 1986, where he have lived
ever since. Los Banos is a small but
growing farming community in the Central Valley. After finally getting my B.A. degree I worked for AM/PM
mini-marts as a field supervisor, then decided to follow my dream and get into
teaching. I have been teaching for 9
years now, English Language Development and currently 6th
grade. I have 6 kids ages 21-10 with my
2nd oldest on a mission in Indianapolis, Indiana.
I still wear clothes that I got in Costa Rica and Nic
and have the Pearl of Great Price facsimiles hanging on the wall of my
house. I have been in bishoprics, H.P.
group leader and am currently on the High Council working with the Spanish
branch in the Merced Stake. I look
forward to seeing all of the millionaires at the reunion in October.
